BALTIMORE - (June 17, 2008) - The University of Maryland Heart Center Inaugural Baltimore 10 Miler will take place on Saturday, June 21 at 7:30am beginning inside Druid Hill Park near the Maryland Zoo.
The 10 mile course will run along two of Baltimore's lakeside parks. At the start, runners will pass the lake at Druid Hill Park to 33rd Street where they head east until reaching Lake Montebello. After a lap around the Lake Montebello, participants will head west on 33rd Street before returning to Druid Hill Park to complete the course.
The field has been limited to 2,000 participants with all finishers receiving a fleece emblazoned with the race logo.
Local sportscaster and radio host Mark Viviano will be running the race, attempting to finish ahead of as many runners as possible. Each runner that completes the race before Viviano will result in a $2 donation by the radio personality and his co-host Damon Yaffe to the Baltimore Police Activity League.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Mark Ragonese Family Trust and the University of Maryland Heart Center.
