Athletics: Avia Team Athletes Demonstrate World-Class Performances In Recent Endurance Competitions

Aliso Viejo, Calif. (July 24, 2008) – AVIA, the leader in endurance sports training products, congratulates team athletes Angela Naeth, Tyler Stewart and Nicholas Thompson on their stand-out performances this past weekend at two top-tier competitions; the Boulder Peak Triathlon in Colorado and the AVIA sponsored Vineman Ironman in Sonoma County, CA..

Claiming first-place in the women’s division at Boulder Peak on July 20, 2008, was Angela Naeth. “It feels awesome to get my first pro win,” said Naeth. The race consisted of a 1,500 meter swim, 42 kilometer bike course and a 10 kilometer run. Even with a broken toe, Naeth’s competitive drive for victory couldn’t be subdued. Her finishing time, 2:10:07, is the fifth fastest women’s time in Boulder Peak Triathlon history.

Tyler Stewart also found herself standing on the winners podium on July 20, 2008, as she finished in a strong second-place at the AVIA sponsored Vineman Ironman 70.3 Triathlon. Stewart was able to break down more than a three-minute gap between herself and leader Joanna Zeiger to finish only 22-seconds behind first place. In her AVI-Lite II’s, Stewart completed a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike course and 13.1 mile run in 4:20:20. The race qualifies Stewart for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship located in Clearwater, FL this November.

“AVIA couldn’t be happier with the performances of our sponsored athletes in this past weekend’s events,” said Ed Goldman, AVIA’s vice president of marketing. “Time and time again, our team shows up amongst the top of the field in some of the world’s most high profile competitions.”

Another AVIA sponsored Luna Pro athlete, Nicholas Thompson, also competed in the Vineman this past Sunday. In his first race as a pro, Thompson took tenth place finishing in a very respectable 4:05:24. AVIA is looking forward to a strong career with Thompson as he continues his race to the top.
