(Duluth, Minn.) Christian Hesch won today’s 2nd annual Grandma’s Minnesota Mile Duluth. Hesch, 29, of Morro Bay, Calif., claimed first place in four minutes, ten seconds and received the top prize of $1,250. North Carolina’s Thomas Morgan (4:12) and Kenya’s Richard Kandie (4:15) placed second and third in the men’s elite field.
Carrie Messner-Vickers, of Carbondale, Colo., earned the women’s elite division title ($1,250) finishing in 4:43, seven seconds faster than Kenyan Meskerem Legesse. Duluth’s Kathleen Monaghan placed fifth in 5:16.
