Aiming to be crowned again in Belfort, the beautiful champion crashed; a tough experience for a young warrior! To breathe new life into her programme her coach, Yves Cordier, organizer of the Ironman France, offered her the ideal opportunity and an unexpected challenge: the starting list of Nice. She will then test her endurance over the distance that she has set as a career goal. Focus will be on this very promising young athlete.
Exclusive interview with the: Long Distance Triathlon French Champion "Elite" 2008.
"I said "Ironman Nice, not this year ..." But fate sometimes decides otherwise. As a matter of fact, certain events may lead us to some last minute changes: in this mass of races, I turned a championship in France into a long-distance iron fight. And finally I think it will be worth it even if Nice is impressive! Although I am a bit apprehensive, Nice intrigues me and what better way to restart after a crash than to discover a new distance -- which was a career goal -- but without pressure?
I really want to compete in it this way. Indeed, I will not go into the race aiming for the podium. Although I will have my shoes in my "RUN bag" I simply want to feel the pulse of this race. As far as a successful Ironman goes - I guess- I would need to be more prepared and meditate for more than three weeks before the start. I will use it as training and a first attempt. Moreover I cannot imagine anything better than racing in my hometown and in a race that is set up by my coach.
So I look forward to the freshness of the pebbles of the beach of Nice next Sunday morning (while I wonder what I have signed up for!), keen to discover what I expect to be a long, long day..."
