(Tarpon Springs, FL) July 23, 2007 – Today, Ironman announces the addition of TriBike Transport to its list of partners for the inaugural Ford Ironman Louisville, taking place on Sunday, August 26, 2007. TriBike Transport, one of the leaders in bike shipment, has delivered more than 5,000 bikes for athletes competing in over 20 North American Ironman events and other triathlons since its founding three years ago.
"We are excited to add the Ford Ironman Louisville to our growing calendar of events,” says TriBike Transport founder and five-time Ironman finisher, Marc Lauzon. “We look forward to working with Ironman to help make this an outstanding experience for all athletes traveling to the inaugural event.”
Athletes who are interested in shipping their bikes through TriBike Transport, should make a reservation Online. Registration is now open, but will sell out quickly and close as each truck is filled. Once a reservation is made, athletes drop their bikes off at one of more than 60 TriBike partners nationwide. Bikes will be packed fully assembled and driven to the athletes’ race destinations. Following the event, athletes bring their fully assembled bikes to the designated TriBike Transport area, located across from transition, for return delivery. The cost for roundtrip shipping through TriBike Transport is $225 and includes $1,000 worth of insurance with additional coverage available upon request.
The 2.4 mile swim for Ford Ironman Louisville will take place in the Ohio River and the bike and run course will take athletes throughout various areas of Louisville to include not only downtown, but also Prospect, the city of LaGrange and Oldham and Henry Counties. Athletes will end their race with a finish line celebration at Fourth Street Live. Registration for the inaugural event opened on October 21, 2006, and sold out less than ten days later. The event, the 22nd to be added to the Ironman Series, will serve as a qualifier for the 2007 Ford Ironman World Championship taking place on October 13, in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
