INDIANAPOLIS (January 6, 2009) – The field for the 2009 Finish Line 500 Festival 5K is quickly filling up. Over 2,315 people have registered for the Finish Line 500 Festival 5K, scheduled for Saturday, May 2. Online registration for the race is available at www.500festival.com. The fee to register is $30.00. Registration will close once the maximum field of 4,000 is reached.
The 5K utilizes the same start line and finish line as the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon. The start of the 5K will be approximately 55 minutes following the start of the Mini-Marathon.
Runners and walkers in the 5K receive many of the same benefits as the participants in the Mini-Marathon, including:
- Water stations (pit areas) and Gatorade stations on the course
- Entertainment along the course
- Exclusive packet pick-up area at the Expo & Packet Pick-Up
- A finisher’s medal
- A complimentary opening day ticket for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
- A short-sleeved 2009 Finish Line 500 Festival 5K T-shirt
- A celebration at the Post-Race Party
- All 5K race participants are invited to the post-race party
- Finish Line 500 Festival 5K Preferred Start Corral
Participants who want to start in the front of the 5K field will have the opportunity to be assigned to the 5K distance (3.1 miles) in 30 minutes or faster. Results must be from a previous road race that has occurred between May 3, 2008 and March 10, 2009.
