Athletics: Roadkill Running Club announces the inaugural Smoky Mountain Left Turn Marathon in Oak Ridge, Tennessee

Oak Ridge, Tenn (January 21, 2009) - The Roadkill Running Club is pleased to announce the inaugural Smoky Mountain Left Turn Marathon. The event will be held in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on March 15, 2009 and lead runners through the cities of Oak Ridge and Clinton with only left turns.

“For year one, we’re going to put a limit on participation to make sure we provide a first-class event,” states Zane Hagy, one of the club founders and marathon organizers, “Our plan is to allow 150 runners to join us for a beautiful day of running in Oak Ridge and Clinton.”

Carl Sexton, co-organizer, adds that “The cooperation of both the Cities of Oak Ridge and Clinton has been astounding. Without the support of the City officials as well as the Oak Ridge Convention and Visitors Bureau, we simply couldn’t have pulled things together.”

A training team is underway, with room for new runners to join in to prepare for the event. Volunteer coordination is also already taking place, as well as registration for the event. More information is available at
