Company Returns to Its Roots in Race Timing Services
Ann Arbor, Mich. -- After 13 years of focusing primarily on the distribution and support of the ChampionChip® timing system in the United States, Burns Computer Services is returning to its core business of providing the highest quality event timing and consultation services for road races and active sports events.
"We’ve done this for 30 years," says founder and owner Mike Burns who was the first to provide transponder, or "chip," timing services in the United States. "We have the ability to bring to our clients --some of them for more than 25 years-- the maximum choice in terms of technology."
Burns Computer Services will continue to use the ChampionChip® timing system, but will also be using newer brands of equipment, including disposable chips and tags which reduce set-up time and eliminate chip collection at the finish line.
"We’re always exploring new and inventive ways to improve the quality of the race experience for organizers, athletes and their families," says Burns. "We’re good listeners and are very responsive to our clients’ needs."
Burns Computer Services continues to be at the forefront of event timing technology, especially the electronic distribution of results to both event organizers and race participants. Services include offering live internet results, live text messaging of results, virtual finisher certificates, and production of results labels at the finish.
"For 30 years we have been the leaders in providing new innovations to the running industry," says Burns. "I’m looking forward to continuing to push the envelope and provide innovative solutions to our clients. With today’s technology, we can now help with so many more areas of the event. From expo, to medical, to cleanup and more, we will continue to streamline and enhance the entire experience for race organizers and participants."
