Multisport: Muddy Buddy Ride and Run Series Takes on Music City

Adventure and obstacle course event coming to Nashville, Tenn. on May 31

Nashville, Tenn. (February 5, 2009) -- The Muddy Buddy Ride and Run Series is excited to announce Nashville, Tennessee as its newest location. In a Muddy Buddy event, teams of two take on a six-mile course, alternating between running and mountain biking. Along the way, both participants encounter obstacles at each mile until sloshing through the infamous mud pit and finishing together. The inaugural Nashville event will take place in the Cheatham Wildlife Management Area on May 31, 2009.

"We knew that Nashville was a perfect fit for this event," said Bob Babbitt, founder of the Muddy Buddy Series."We saw there was an active community in Tennessee, full of people looking to get out, exercise and have fun. Muddy Buddy provides that plus so much more – it’s an event for the whole family, and we can’t wait to bring it to Music City."

The Muddy Buddy experience is all about fun and fitness, and is appropriate for anyone, from beginner to serious athlete looking to have a great time. Each event features an off- road course and five obstacles. At the start of the event, one team member will run and one will ride the bike. At the first obstacle, the rider will drop the bike, complete the obstacle and begin running. The runner will arrive, complete the obstacle, find the team bike and begin riding. Teams continue leapfrogging through the entire course, until the end of the course, where participants crawl through the infamous mud pit and cross the finish line together.

Kids can get into the game, too, with the Paul Mitchell Mini Muddy Buddy. Children ages 4-13 have the opportunity to complete a short obstacle course and then plunge through the same mud pit as their parents. $5 of every registration for the Mini Muddy Buddy will go to benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation.

The Nashville Muddy Buddy will take place on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Cheatham Wildlife Management Area in Ashland City, Tennessee. For more information or to register, please visit MuddyBuddy.com.
