The Sports Science Institute of South Africa, New Balance and CAPESTORM are hosting an informative trail running workshop aimed at novice trail runners and those wanting to find out a bit more about this growing and extremely popular sport.
The workshop will be held at the Conference Centre of the SSISA in Newlands, Cape Town on Monday 11 May 2009. Speakers include Thamar Houliston (lifestyle editor for Primedia Online), twice Cape Odyssey winners and trail running gurus, Linda Doke and Ian Little, who is also Marketing Manager for CAPESTORM. A wide range of topics will be covered, including how one becomes a trail runner, training advice, types of trail running (sand, jeep-track, single track, climbing mountains) and gearing up for the sport (shoes, hydration packs etc). You will also hear about exciting upcoming trail runs in the Western Cape for all levels of trail runners and see some awesome footage of these events.
The workshop presentations will start at 18h30, with registration kicking off at 18h00. Attendees stand to win excellent prizes from sponsors New Balance, CAPESTORM and the SSISA in the lucky draw. The workshop fee is R45 per person and a donation will be made to a selected charity. Light snacks and a cash bar will be available at the start.
