Championship event will take place in North Carolina in September
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 3, 2009) -- It's beginning to look like 2009 is the "year of duathlon" in the United States.
The run-bike-run multisport event is taking center stage this spring as the USA Triathlon Duathlon Festival - which includes the USAT Duathlon National Championship - heads to Richmond, Va., April 25-26. Age Group athletes will compete for precious Team USA slots so they can race among world's best at the International Triathlon Union Short Course Duathlon World Championship set for Concord, N.C., September 24-27.
The World Championship promises to be a one of kind event, with the race taking place in and around Lowe's Motor Speedway. The speedway and neighboring roads for the bike course and parts of the run course provide a challenging circuit that will take the athletes around the same track where NASCAR's greatest drivers of all time have raced for the checkered flag.
USA Triathlon has launched a website that provides participants all the details they need, including a schedule of events and course maps.
