For the fourth time, Toyota is an Official Partner of the IAAF World Championships in Athletics and, together
with the National Partner Deutsche Post, is "Starting for the Environment" ("Für die Umwelt am Start").
From now on, the IAAF World Championships Organising Committee, BOC, will be moving about the capital
in five new Toyota iQs and seventeen Avensis'. Toyota and Deutsche Post also announced a joint campaign
"Starting for the Environment".
Michael Mronz, Steering Board Member of the World Championships Berlin Organising Committee, is
especially pleased about the little iQ city cars: "The Toyota iQ cars will be a fabulous help for us in the Berlin
city traffic during our preparations of the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics berlin 2009(TM). It is
especially important to us that with Toyota we will be on the move for athletics in a very ecologically-sound
way."
For the fourth time in a row, Toyota is an Official Sponsor of the IAAF World Championships in Athletics,
which will take place this year from August 15 -- 23 in Berlin. As the exclusive motor vehicle partner of the
IAAF, Toyota will appear in a prominent position on the number bibs of all female athletes. In addition, during
the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics berlin 2009(TM) more than 200 Toyota cars will be utilised
for shuttle services.
100 new-generation Toyota Prius vehicles will be at the centre of the shuttle service activity. The third
generation of the hybrid vehicle, which only emits 89g CO2/km and can drive purely on its electric motor, will
enter the German market shortly before the start of berlin 2009(TM). Alain Uyttenhoven, vice-president of
Toyota Germany: "At the last IAAF World Championships in Osaka, the Prius already proved to be the ideal
transport vehicle. With the new Prius, we are 'starting for the environment' once again."
"Starting for the environment" is also the motto for Toyota, together with the National Partner Deutsche
Post, at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics berlin 2009(TM). There will be a series of related
activities organised by both partners leading up to the World Championships in August. Alain Uyttenhoven is
pleased to have found a "strong partner with Deutsche Post." Ingo Bohlken, chief marketing officer for
Deutsche Post, elaborated on the cooperation between the two World Championships partners: "Like
Toyota, Deutsche Post also stands for innovative and environmental solutions. Through the utilisation of our
climate-neutral GoGreen products during the IAAF World Championships in Athletics berlin 2009(TM), we
hope to do our part in contributing to not only a successful, but also a sustainable World Championships."
