(Duluth, Minn.) Registration for the 16th annual William A. Irvin 5K is now closed, Grandma’s Marathon announced today. The 3.1-mile race, scheduled for Friday, June 19 at 6 p.m., reached its 1,500-person limit less than one week after the registration period began on March 18.
This year’s field capacity was increased to 1,500 — an addition of 300 from 2008.
The William A. Irvin 5K starts and finishes alongside the permanently docked William A. Irvin ore boat in downtown Duluth. The event is the first of three road races during Grandma's Marathon weekend. Registration remains open for the 33rd running of Grandma’s Marathon, while registration is closed for the 19th annual Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon. These two races are Saturday, June 20.
Although William A. Irvin 5K registration is now closed, about 100 spots remain available for the 20th annual Fitger’s 5K, scheduled for Saturday, April 18 at 9 a.m. in downtown Duluth. Online registration for the Fitger’s 5K is available at www.GrandmasMarathon.com.
