(Duluth, Minn.) You don't have to be a runner, volunteer or spectator to be a big part of this year's Grandma's Marathon. Through April 17, public nominations are being accepted for the 2009 Rudy Perpich Public Service Award.
Nominees can be any current or former public employee or elected official who has exhibited dedication to Grandma's Marathon by contributing time, energy and service to the annual running of the event. The nomination application is available at www.GrandmasMarathon.com, or by calling (218) 727-0947.
In 2006, Grandma's Marathon created the Rudy Perpich Public Service Award, named after the late Minnesota governor who was a tremendous supporter of the annual event.
Up to three individuals will be chosen to receive the 2009 award and will be honored at a ceremony on Thursday, June 18 at 7 a.m. at Duluth's Radisson Hotel. For ticket details or more information, please call (218) 727-0947.
