OTTAWA - The Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance (CSTA) recently announced that the 2008 Canadian Track and Field Championships & Olympic Trials along with the 2008 Canadian Cross Country Championships are among the finalists for the 3rd Annual Prestige Award's Sport Event of the Year in the budget under $250,000 category.
The Canadian Track and Field Championships were held in Windsor, ON and for the second consecutive year were fully integrated (Olympic and Paralympic streams). Broadcasted by CBC, the event served as the Olympics selection meet.
The Canadian Cross Country Championships were held in Guelph, ON and served as the selection meet for both of the 2009 NACAC Cross Country Championship and 2009 IAAF World Cross Country Championship teams.

* 2006 Ontario Paralympic Summer Championships and National Paralympic Track and Field Championships
The winners will be announced at the Prestige Awards Gala luncheon in conjunction with CSTA's Sport Event Congress on Thursday April 16 at the Hilton Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Quebec. The CSTA will present four distinguished 'President's Awards' along with the winners in the five nomination categories (Sport Event of the Year budgeted under $250,000, Sport Event of the Year budgeted over $250,000, Builder of the Year, Community Service Award and New Sport Event of the Year).
