On Thursday June 11 the Festival of Excellence will air live on TSN beginning at 7:30pm eastern time (4:30 pacific time). TSN’s Gord Miller along with University of Toronto’s Andy Higgins will provide the commentary with Sportcentre’s James Cybulski trackside to comment on all the action.
The men’s 400-metres will kick off the live broadcast featuring the 2008 World Indoor Champion Tyler Christopher of Edmonton, AB. Christopher’s stiffest competition will come from the United States’ LaShawn Merritt, gold medalist at the 2008 Olympic Games.
The women’s 100-metre hurdles promises a tight race with 3 of the competitors going head to head last weekend and finishing within four-hundredths of a second apart. Olympic Bronze medalist and current World Leader Priscilla Lopes-Schiep of Whitby, ON; Perdita Felicien of Pickering, ON and Damu Cherry of the United States will line up again together as they all race towards the 2009 Berlin World Championships.
The headliner is the men’s 100-metres with Usain Bolt of Jamaica, the reigning world’s fastest man and triple gold medalist from the Beijing Olympic Games. Bolt will face strong international competition including a pair of Canadian Olympians in Jared Connaughton of New Haven, PEI and Anson Henry of Pickering, ON.
