FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas Razorback sophomore Catherine White proved she should never be counted out in a distance race. She posted an exciting come-from-behind finish in the 10,000 meters on day two of the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Thursday.
White picked up a sixth-place finish in the 10,000 meters to earn her second All-America honor and her first outdoors. White never left the top 10 in the 25-lap race but used her strong kick to score a sixth-place finish and a time of 34:15.26.
"Catherine White was always a factor in that 10K race," head coach Lance Harter said. "She has confidence in her kick and it worked out well for her tonight. I think she is continuing to make breakthroughs and her confidence grows every step of the way. Jillian Rosen had the race of her life tonight. A huge PR in a very tough 1,500-meter field is pretty impressive, especially at a meet of this caliber. She made a big breakthrough tonight."
After two days of competition and four events scored, Florida leads the team race with 13 points, Florida State is second with 12 points and Providence rounds out the top three with 10 points. The Razorbacks are tied for 16th with three points.
Sophomore Jillian Rosen clocked a three-second personal best in her prelim heat of the 1,500 meters. She finished fourth in her heat and 18th overall with her time of 4:18.56. Despite not making the final of the event, she had a huge breakthrough with her first sub-4:20 race and also clocked her fourth PR of the season.
