Athletics: Silver Medal for Brown at World Youth Championships

OTTAWA - Aaron Brown of Toronto, ON won the silver medal today in the men's 100-metres at the 6th International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Youth Championships in Bressanone, Italy. Brown sustained a podium position running 10.74 just one day after running a new pending Canadian youth record of 10.46 in the quarter-final. The gold medal was won in 10.57 by Prezel Hardy of the United States.

  • Django Lovett of Langley, BC advances to the men's high jump final finishing 6th in his qualifying group
  • 800 metre runner Annie Leblanc of Repentigny, QC advances to the semi-final
  • Gregory MacNeil of London, ON finished first in his heat running 13.49 and advances to the semi-final in the 110 metre hurdles
  • Eric Dillon of Oshawa, ON will advance to the final in the 1500 metres

Canada has now tied its performance at the last world youth championships winning the bronze medal in the women's medley relay in 2007.
