Triathlon: British Triathlon announce GB Junior World Triathlon Championship Team

British Triathlon is pleased to announce the GB Junior World Triathlon Championship Team that will travel to the 2009 Gold Coast ITU Triathlon World Championships on 13 September, 2009..

Current Junior Men's ETU European Champion, Jonathan Brownlee from Leeds will travel to the Championships looking to emulate his European success on a Worldwide stage. Brownlee is part of the British Triathlon Olympic Academy Squad funded by the UK Sport lottery funded programme. He will be hoping to repeat his last performance in Australia having won gold at the Australia Youth Olympic Festival earlier this year.

In the Women's camp, Vicky Graves from York also will also be looking to emulate her own European success having won a bronze medal at the 2009 Holten ETU Triathlon European Championships.

Kirsty McWilliam from Stirling is another member of the British Triathlon Olympic Academy Squad funded by the UK Sport lottery funded programme and is the final member of the Junior GB team to travel to Australia. McWilliam is the current Junior World Champion and will be looking to retain her title won in Vancouver last year.

Heather Williams, Performance Director at British Triathlon commented: "The GB Junior World Triathlon Championship Team has some very talented Junior triathletes, who are already competitive on a Senior level. At the last ITU World Triathlon Championships we won two medals and I am confident that we have the athletes and support staff to repeat this in Australia."
