Triathlon: Norbert Langbrandtner on the starting line of TriStar200 Andalucía

"Concept beaks traditional rules and brings new momentum to the sport of triathlon" says the Austrian pro triathlete and event organizer.

Norbert Langbrandtner of Austria signed up for TriStar200 Andalucía taking place on 12 September 2009. Langbrandtner is one of Austria's most successful triathletes and organises triathlons in his homecountry. He thinks the new event series puts the athlete back into focus and looks forward to the new ideas and the flexibility that the TriStar races stand for.

Since 1992, Norbert Langbrandter has been a "triathlete with heart and soul", as he says. From 1996 until 2000 he raced on the national team and was sucessful on the Olympic distance. In 2001 he first participated in Ironman Austria on the long distance and finished in 8 hours and 42 minutes. He finished second in his second Ironman participation in 2002, and came in second three times since.

Will the organiser of triathlons in Austria, trainer and coach win the first edition of TriStar200 Andalucía on 12 September 2009? While this might be one of his goals, the "new ideas and felxibility" are Langbrandtner's motivation to participate in the kickoff event for the brand new event series.

"The concept beaks traditional rules and brings new momentum to the sport of triathlon, which I like a lot," explains Langbrantner. "Ironman races never get boring either, hovever the limitations of entry spots narrow the possibilites of participation. TriStar offers new opportunities to become part of first class events."

TriStar200 Andalucía connects the two provinces of Cadiz and Huelva, and it is the first race under the new TriStar brand. It is organized by Star Events and the Empresa Pública de Deporte Andaluz, with the initiative of the Regional Ministry for Tourism, Trade and Sports of the Regional Government of Andalusia. The first 300 participants receive a discounted rate. Athletes -- professional and amateurs -- will race for a total prize purse of 70.000 EUR. Entries are open for individual starters and relays on
