Your swim, you bike, you run, then you’re done. In the ninth annual Nautica New York City Triathlon.
Coming up this November, the 40th ING New York City Marathon. RUNNING HD takes a look back at some of the celebrated years of the race.
- 1980 – The 11th New York City Marathon. First time marathoner Alberto Salazar boldly predicts a sub 2:10 time.
- 1994 – The 25th running. 31,000 starters leave Staten Island. But with a half mile to go, there were two at the front, and the real racing began.
- 2005 – the 36th ING New York City Marathon. Now the world’s largest marathon, and for the two racing for the win, adventure of the highest order.
Rhode Island has always been a hotbed of running and it reaches it peaks every year in the Cox Providence Rhode Races where there’s an event for every body.
An Asics Great Moment. The ING New York City Marathon experience includes the Continental Airlines International Friendship Run, where 15,000 celebrate worldwide camaraderie.
New York City Triathlon race week bursts with activity.
- One of the featured events…the Iams Doggy Dash. Bring your best friend along for a five miler around the park.
- You could say the next generation already has a head start as showcased in the Huggies Diaper Derby.
- Getting fashion down to the essentials, led by the Naked Cowboy, the Underwear Run turns heads in Central Park.
