Athletics: Amory Rowe Named to USATF Foundation Board of Directors

Indianapolis -Amory Rowe Salem, Founder & Executive Director of In the Arena has been named as a Director of the USA Track & Field Foundation Board, USATF Foundation Executive Director Tom Jackovic and Chairman Bob Greifeld announced today.

"Amory's experience as an athlete, coupled with her passion for sport and helping youth, are a perfect fit for the USATF Foundation and our mission."said USA Track & Field Foundation Director Ken Flax.

Amory was a two-sport All-American at Princeton, where she also won an NCAA title in lacrosse and received the C. Otto von Kienbush Prize as one of the school's best female scholar-athletes. After graduation, she won a gold medal with the US Lacrosse Team at the 1997 World Championships before turning her attention to individual sports. She ran cross-country and track while teaching and coaching in Cambridge, MA, and took one last bite at the competitive apple when she turned pro as a multi-sport athlete in 2003 and won the US National Duathlon Championships in 2004.

In 2006, Amory founded In the Arena, a youth development organization that provides at-risk youths with powerful sporting mentors.

The USATF Foundation provides a means to attract and guide funds to new and innovative track and field programs with an emphasis on providing opportunities for youth athletes, emerging athletes and anti-doping education. The Foundation continues to impact the sport as evidenced by the just completed USATF National Championships, where ten individual grantee athletes and six Distance Project Training Center athletes made the team going to Berlin for the World Championships.
