Schaumburg Native Wins Hometown Race
Chicago, IL -- 20,000 runners took on Lake Shore Drive yesterday at one of the nation's largest half marathons and 5ks, the 13th Annual Chicago Half Marathon & 5K. The scenic route began and ended in Jackson Park to beautiful weather, showcasing Chicago's brilliant south shoreline and skyline.
Schaumburg native, who now lives in Rochester Hills, Michigan, Patrick Rizzo, won the race at a time of 1:07:49. His running-team teammate Melissa White was the top female runner, coming in at 1:14:56. Three time winner of the race in past years, was runner up Chicagoan Greg Costello, coming in at 1:08:50. Female runner up was Chicagoan Amanda Dominich at 1:20:05.
Runners partied at the finish line with food, giveaways, a massage tent and music including the "Chicago Runners' Playlist" put together after polling over 1,000 runners on the music they like to run to.
