Multisport: Carmichael Training Systems Transitions Athletes to TrainingPeaks Online Coaching Software

CTS coaches will be providing training programs and analyzing athletes' workout data using TrainingPeaks online coaching platform.

Colorado Springs, CO, September 14, 2009 -- Carmichael Training Systems, an industry leader in endurance sports coaching, camps, and performance testing, announced that as of today, CTS Coaches will be providing training programs and analyzing athletes' workout data using TrainingPeaks online coaching platform. This transition has been in the works for nearly a year, as CTS and Peaksware – the software company behind the TrainingPeaks brand – worked together to customize the TrainingPeaks online coaching software to meet the unique needs of CTS Coaches and CTS Athletes.

This marks a significant transition for Carmichael Training Systems, from developing and using their own proprietary online-coaching tools to utilizing online coaching technologies provided by an outside company. "I made a decision more than two years ago, that I wanted CTS to focus on coaching and customer service instead of software development," explains Carmichael Training Systems founder, Chris Carmichael. “TrainingPeaks online and desktop software offers the most advanced tools for prescribing, monitoring, and analyzing an athlete's training. I've invested heavily in developing the best coaches in the industry, and I'm very happy that CTS Athletes will now have the benefits of both great coaches and superior coaching technology.”

Working in conjunction with the software engineers at Peaksware, Chris and the CTS Coaching Staff had significant input during the development of the new online interface coaches will use to prescribe daily workouts for their athletes. This included incorporating proprietary workouts and training intensity ranges that are specific to the CTS Coaching Methodology.

"It is an honor to work with Chris Carmichael and his staff to continually evolve our TrainingPeaks software to meet the needs of their coaches and athletes," said Donavon Guyot, CEO of Peaksware. "Our strategic focus of providing unparalleled client management and data analysis tools customizable to any coaching methodology allows CTS coaches to focus on their world-class coaching without the distraction, burden and cost of developing and maintaining software."

For CTS Coaches and Athletes, the benefits of this transition were immediate and dramatic. The online interface used by CTS Athletes has several new features, including improved graphing functions and the ability to upload training data from power meters, heart rate monitors, and GPS units directly into their training logs. Likewise, CTS Coaches now have more convenient access to their athletes' training data, as well as improved analysis tools.

"I feel like I have the best of both worlds," commented longtime CTS Athlete Taylor Carrington. "In my experience with several coaching organizations, CTS has the greatest level of expertise and professionalism, and now my CTS coach and I can also communicate and share data using the most advanced software. This transition has been an incredible upgrade."
