Triathlon: Sindballe signs on with Challenge Copenhagen

Denmark's Torbjørn Sindballe, one of the world's top long-course triathletes, has joined the Challenge Copenhagen team.

Sindballe, forced to retire from competition by a heart ailment earlier this year, brings a wealth of experience on the global triathlon stage to race organizers and participants. In addition to working with race organizers in the lead-up to the event, he'll serve as a presenter on race day, take part in race-week events and provide training tips via the race website.

"When I ended my career in June, I thought I could still contribute something to the sport," said the former world champion. "Apart from participating in a triathlon myself, this is the best way to show how much the sport means to me. The competitions of the Challenge Family have a very special atmosphere, and I would like to contribute to that here in Copenhagen."

Race director Thomas Veje Olsen was delighted to welcome Sindballe: "He is a very inspiring person; his commitment and his experience as a world champion will bring our event forward. To have a perfect race for the athletes, spectators and sponsors, we need the best people in our organizing team. And Torbjørn Sindballe is definitely one of the best."

YWC Sports and TEAMChallenge will bring the magic of Challenge triathlon to Copenhagen on August 15, 2010. The course, over a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and 42.2km run, will take in some of the capital's most stunning landmarks, including the Little Mermaid, Amalienborg, home of the Queen of Denmark, the stunning new Opera and the old harbor of Nyhavn. The race will finish in front of the Danish Parliament.

Registration is available online at www.challenge-copenhagen.com. To learn more about the Challenge series, visit www.challenge-family.com.
