(El Dorado Hills, CA), October 26th, 2009 -- Have you ever wanted to do something truly inspiring? Are you a lover of animals? Would you like to get yourself into great shape -- or even better shape? If you've answered yes to any of the questions, you may wish to take part in the 2010 Los Angeles Marathon as part of the Noah's Wish team.
For the first time ever, LA Marathon runners will have the opportunity to join the Noah's Wish Team, and help protect animals as they take part in the inspiring 26.2-mile race. Noah's Wish, is a national nonprofit organization that works exclusively to rescue and shelter animals in disaster situations, and has been selected as an official charity for the 25th running of the Los Angeles Marathon.
Noah's Wish is aiming to recruit seasoned runners, first-timer marathoners and walkers too, in order to reach the $10,000 fundraising goal for their initial participation in this great Southern California event.
"We couldn't be more excited about being chosen to be part of this annual Los Angeles event and are asking our volunteers from throughout the US and Canada to get their running shoes on and join the festivities. Those unable to participate in the actual run are already rallying to provide the support system that all marathon participants need. We're setting our fundraising goal at a pretty high level in anticipation that we'll be at the finish line with the best of them," said Donna Ganguet, Noah's Wish Chief Operating Officer.
Noah's Wish has a singular mission to save animals during disasters using our rescue and recovery services and to also mitigate the impact of disasters on animals through our educational outreach programs. Funds raised will go towards various programs including veterinary care for animals in our shelter that are injured or ill. The funds will also be used to provide food and shelter for animals impacted by disasters, such as specialized caging/containment for large animals or food for exotic species.
