Early registration savings available for half marathon to be held on May 16, 2010
QUANTICO, VA (November 9, 2009) - Online registration for the Marine Corps
Historic Half marathon will begin at noon eastern on Wednesday, November 18 at
www.marinemarathon.com. The half marathon held in timeless Fredericksburg,
Virginia grew in participation by 30% in its second year and expects to
register up to 8,000 runners for the May 16, 2010 event. Runners can save $10
on the $75 registration fee by signing up before February 23, 2010. An
additional savings of $10 is available to active duty military members.
The registration process includes accepting a waiver, completing the online
form, clicking through the payment and receiving a confirmation email. Runners
will also have an opportunity to purchase a limited edition Marine Corps
Historic Half "Inspired" in-training shirt by New Balance. The event's hotel
travel desk is accessible through a link from the confirmation email or
through the event website (www.marinecorpshistorichalf.com) for runners to
plan a getaway weekend in historic Fredericksburg.
Registration also opens on November 18 for the popular Semper Fred 5K, run
immediately following the start of the Historic Half on May 16, 2010.
The Fredericksburg-hosted 13.1 mile course offers a blend of modern life and
small town charm, beginning and ending at the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference
Center. Conveniently located on I-95 between Washington, D.C. and Richmond,
the Historic Half marathon boasts scenic riverside views, a charming Old Town
and colonial and revolutionary landmarks.
The two-day Healthy Lifestyle Expo featuring official Packet Pick-up, plus
health, fitness, diet and wellness exhibitors and vendors will be held on
Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15 as part of Historic Half Weekend.
The Marine Corps Historic Half marathon will be held on May 16, 2010 in
Fredericksburg, VA. The Historic Half is coordinated by organizers of the
