Logan carries the torch

USA Track & Field CEO Doug Logan on Tuesday took part in the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay in Nova Scotia, on Canada's southeastern coast.

The Olympic Flame was lit in Olympia, Greece on October 22, and the Torch Relay began October 30th in Victoria, British Columbia. On Tuesday, it was in Nova Scotia, with Logan handling a leg through the 5,000-person village of Bible Hill.

"It is an honor to be able to represent USA Track & Field and the Olympic family as part of the Torch Relay," said Logan, who arrived in Nova Scotia on Monday. "I take a certain amount of satisfaction in knowing that even the Winter Olympics begin with a running event, although for the purpose of my leg, I am very grateful that the torch run is an event based on participation rather than speed."

The Olympic Torch Relay is 100 days in length and features roughly 12,000 torch bearers carrying the torch nearly 28,000 miles through Canada. It concludes with the arrival of the torch at the Opening Ceremonies for the Winter Games in Vancouver on February 12.
