Athletics: Canada Running Series 2010 Registration opens, including Combo Packs

TORONTO, November 19th. Online registration is now open for all 8 events in Canada Running Series 2010 at . Canada's most prestigious running circuit offers a selection of the country's best mass-participation and elite road races, including the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon that had the 3 fastest marathon times ever run on Canadian soil in '09, the Sporting Life Toronto 10K with 12,500 participants charging down Yonge Street, the Banque Scotia 21K de Montreal that hosted the Athletics Canada National Half Marathon Championships in '09, and the Oasis ZooRun that hosted the National 10K Road Championships this Fall. As in '09, there will be 5 runs in Toronto, 2 in Vancouver and one in Montreal for CRS10.

2010 registration also allows for the highly popular Combo Packs [until February 22nd only], where runners can create any combination of their own favourite runs for the year and save money when they sign up for 2, 3 or 4+ events.

2009 was a record-breaking year all round for the CRS. Entries grew by a whopping 19% to 52,299 runners in the 8 events. Even more impressive was the fundraising. CRS09 fundraising increased by 56%, to hit $4,085,237.76 collected for more than 140 mostly-local local charities in the three cities.

"2009 was an absolutely banner year for our 20th season," said CRS Executive Race Director, Alan Brookes. "We fully expect it to continue into 2010, given the huge recognition and momentum CRS has built, and the demand for well-organized, healthy-lifestyle events. From day one, we've always been known for our organization and innovation: from accurately measuring courses to introducing ChampionChip timing; to on-course entertainment and post-run "live" concerts; to great technical t-shirts and finishers' medals; for delivering courses with character and great venues -- a complete package that appeals to the broadest range of 'competers and completers'. Together with our sponsors, we're already running hard to sustain the excitement on the Canadian roads for 2010." And enter today is Brookes' final message, as almost all the events reached their caps and sold out in '09.
