SEATTLE -- Thousands of runners will take to the streets Sunday for the Amica Seattle Marathon. However, only one will be decked out as the King of Rock n' Roll.
Ian Sharman, 29, of Bend, Oregon is hoping to set a new Guinness World Record for being the fastest person to finish a marathon while dressed as Elvis Presley. The current Guinness World Record for "Elvis" stands at 2 hours and 49 minutes.
"I'm looking forward to running this weekend's Amica Insurance Seattle Marathon," said Ian Sharman. "Having run as Elvis in London and Rome, I know how much fun the crowd's reaction is. I just hope it doesn't rain or the wig will be a problem!"
More than 18,000 people are expected to participate in this year's Seattle Marathon and related events, making it the largest in Seattle Marathon history. The event consists of a full 26.2-mile marathon and marathon walk. It also will include, a 13.1-mile half marathon run and half marathon walk, a kids race and a 5k race
"We're quite excited about this year's event," said John Kokes, board president of the Seattle Marathon Association. "Every year, it just gets better."
The race in Seattle will take place on a rolling course with hilly sections and scenic views of downtown Seattle and Lake Washington.
