Ryan Hall and Deena Kastor, the USA record holders for the half-marathon distance, will compete in the P.F. Changs Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Half-Marathon on Sunday, Jan. 17, in Tempe, Ariz., Competitor Group Inc. announced yesterday. It will be the first time that either Hall or Kastor has competed in this event, part of the musical Rock 'n' Roll race series.
Hall, 27, ran 59:43 at the Aramco Services Houston Half-Marathon in 2007 to smash Mark Curp's 1985 USA record of 60:55 set at the Philadelphia Distance Run. Kastor, 36, has set the American record twice, first at Philadelphia in 2005 (1:07:53), then again in Berlin in 2006 (1:07:34).
For both athletes, their race in Arizona will be their 2010 racing debuts.
