Old Hollywood Hills has been long forgotten, but Off 'N Running Tours is bringing its history back to life in their new Running for the Hollywood Hills guided running tour.
March 12, 2011, Los Angeles, CA -- No trip to Los Angeles is complete without a jaunt to the infamous Hollywood sign however, seeing it from far away in a boring tour bus is so last year. Thanks to Off 'N Running Tours (http://www.offnrunningtours.com), a company dedicated to helping individuals improve their athletic performance, visitors can see the Hollywood sign, as well as other sites and landmarks where Hollywood was born, in their new Running for the Hollywood Hills guided running tour.
For both runners and walkers of all levels, the 5-mile tour takes individuals through Beachwood Canyon and an area known as Hollywoodland, ensuring the best views of LA, the Hollywood sign and all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Participants walk or run challenging hills while going past notable landmarks, celebrity homes and movie sites. Throughout the entire experience, individuals get sweeping views of the Hollywood sign while learning little known facts and seeing historical sites.
Since the Hollywood sign was erected in 1923, it has become a California icon representing hope and dreams. When Los Angeles Times publisher Harry Chandler built the sign to advertise his upscale Hollywoodland real estate development, no one knew it would grow to be the primary symbol for the entertainment industry.
Unlike group running or walking tours, Running for the Hollywood Hills is scheduled privately in the morning for one or two people, accommodating their specific travel schedule.
"If people schedule early enough they can see the sun rise above the Hollywood sign, which is an unforgettable experience," said Cheryl Anker, owner of Off 'N Running Tours.
For over 16 years, Off 'N Running Tours has catered to travelers who want to see the Los Angeles area through their highly sought-after guided running tours. In addition, the company offers training programs and a running club that allows beginning recreational runners and walkers to prepare for marathons, as well as creates and manages races for convention groups nationwide.
Running for the Hollywood Hills is offered Sunday and Wednesday mornings at a cost of $65 per person per tour. To register or for more information, go to Active.com.
