Athletics: Registration Now Open for the 2017 EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler

More than 5,000 runners are expected to compete in the Sunday, Nov. 5 event; race will host the 2017 PRRO Championship

PITTSBURGH - Registration is now open for the 2017 EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler, scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 5. More than 5,000 runners are expected to compete in the 10-mile road race. The race offers participants a scenic tour of Pittsburgh, starting in Station Square and finishing at EQT Plaza on Liberty Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh.

"EQT is committed to supporting events like the annual EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler because they bring people together and give them one more reason to be proud of our city." said Charlene Petrelli, President, EQT Foundation. "Itís another example of our commitment to our neighbors, whether itís supporting efforts that provide them with opportunities for economic growth, encouraging their access to safe and healthy communities, or simply cheering from the sidelines as they cross the finish line."

This year's race will offer a prize purse of $26,200, including $5,200 available for U.S. athletes from P3Rís American Development Program. The race also has been designated as the 2017 PRRO Championship. The PRRO Circuit 2016-17 showcases world-class competition at four prestigious road race events shorter than the marathon distance and featuring more than $350,000 in prize money.

Last year, against a top international field, American Leonard Korir and Ethiopian Buze Diriba were race champions in 47 minutes, 13 seconds and 51:38, respectively. Diriba set an event record and also produced the fastest womenís 10 mile road performance in 2016.

"On the milestone fifth anniversary of the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler, P3R is thrilled to open the streets of our city to all levels of runners," said Patrice Matamoros, P3R CEO. "The 2017 race will also host the prestigious PRRO Circuit Championship, which will greatly enhance the party atmosphere that race day is sure to bring in the Steel City.Ē

For those looking to capture a shorter distance, the 2-person relay is the perfect solution. Runners will be able to split the course and conquer the 10-mile course together.

All EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler participants will receive the following perks:

  • Long-sleeve, technical menís or womenís finisherís shirt
  • Premium runner bag
  • Beautifully designed finisher medal
  • Access to a closed, USATF-certified course
  • Chip-time with online tracking with instant online results
  • Virtual goodie bag email with exclusive deals and promotions for race participants.
  • Post-race food and entertainment

Participants can purchase EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler registration as an individual event or as part of the P3R Megaticket. The Megaticket includes registration for the 2017 GNC Live Well Liberty Mile (July 28), 2017 EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler and either the 2018 DICKíS Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon or UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon (Sunday, May 6, 2018).
