2019 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events in Phoenix, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Madrid, Nashville, Liverpool, San Diego, Seattle, and Montreal to provide age group athletes the opportunity to qualify for inaugural AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championships
Two additional 2019 events part of IRONMAN Group portfolio, Ociane Groupe Matmut Marathon de Bordeaux Métropole in France and Runaway Noosa Marathon in Australia, also slated to be qualifiers
TAMPA, Fla. (Jan. 11, 2019) - A total of nine 2019 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series® events will be part of the Series 12 Abbott World Marathon Majors (AbbottWMM) Age Group World Rankings. The Rankings provide age-group athletes the opportunity to qualify for the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championships, being held as part of the Virgin Money London Marathon in 2020. Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events in Phoenix, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Madrid, Nashville, Liverpool, San Diego, Seattle, and Montreal as well as Ociane Groupe Matmut Marathon de Bordeaux Metropole in France and Runaway Noosa Marathon in Australia will be part of the 2019 slate of qualifiers within the IRONMAN Group portfolio.

The AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Rankings launched in September 2018 at the BMW BERLIN-Marathon and gives Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series competitors aged 40+ the opportunity to represent their countries with pride and passion by earning a place at the start line of the prestigious and much sought after 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon, where the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championships will be held, in a race-within-a-race format.

Participants in the Series 12 AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Ranking qualifying races, such as the nine 2019 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events in the United States, Canada, Spain and United Kingdom, earn points according to their age, time and gender, aligned with the following age groups for men and women: 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+.
From 2018 through 2019, a total of 17 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series and IRONMAN Group-produced marathons have been included in global list of 50 qualifying events that serve as qualifiers for the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Rankings.
