Texasí longest running marathon introduces new parent brand - commitment to health and community remains strong
(DALLAS) - The BMW Dallas Marathon today announced the organizationís new overarching brand, runDallas, which encompasses the organizationís annual line-up of events. In addition, runDallas will promote health and physical fitness through running events and related activities that generate funds for other non-profit organizations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
"As we enter our 49th year as an organization, we are excited to introduce runDallas to our participants, partners, volunteers and spectators," said Paul Lambert, President of the BMW Dallas Marathon. "Our staff is passionate about providing a first-class experience for all our guests, and we look forward to exceeding their expectations when they take part in any of our runDallas events."
runDallas will host multiple first-class running and walking events over the calendar year that are family inclusive, and provide a challenging and fun event experience for all. runDallasí marquee event will be the annual BMW Dallas Marathon Weekend, which is Texasí longest running marathon and Dallasí largest single-day sporting event with more than 20,000 runners and 100,000 spectators. The BMW Dallas Marathon attracts runners from all 50 states and over 25 countries.
Additionally, the organization plans to continue its other signature events, including the Oncor Mayorís Race, Five on the 4th, Dallas Corporate 5K and BMW 5K Social Runs.
In addition to events, runDallas offers a new set of opportunities for local businesses and non-profits to engage with the community. The organization is proud to announce its 2019 series partners: Samuel Adams, Andrews Distributing, The UCAN Company and Baylor Scott & White. These partners will have a presence at all runDallas events hosted throughout the year. Furthermore, BMW will continue as the title sponsor of the Marathon Weekend.
The runDallas logo will appear familiar to many, as it includes the organizationís iconic Pegasus symbol. Pegasus symbols can be seen throughout the city on various fixtures or included in the names of many local businesses. Underneath the Pegasus lies the new custom wordmark, "runDallas, - which is representative of the health and fitness events available for participants to join.
The red and blue color scheme represents the Texas flag. Dallas born and bred, these colors symbolize runDallasí origins, as well as its dedication to inclusivity by offering those of all ages and fitness levels a place to grow and excel in its lineup of events.
Dallas White Rock Marathon was founded in 1971, when 82 runners participated in the first running around White Rock Lake. In 2012, the organization renewed its partnership with the City of Dallas and rebranded its signature event as the Dallas Marathon, with the start and finish lines placed in the heart of downtown. When BMW of North America and the Dallas-Fort Worth Area BMW Centers signed on as title sponsor in 2016, the name was rebranded to the BMW Dallas Marathon and additional events were developed.
runDallas is a non-profit entity that promotes health and physical fitness through running and walking events. Since designating Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children as its primary beneficiary, the organization has raised nearly $4 million for the hospital, and also raise funds and provide marketing platforms for other major beneficiaries in North Texas, including YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, Dallas Independent School District and several other local and national charities.
