Kenyan and Tulane University cross country star Emmanuel Rotich wins half marathon in 1:04:30; Molly Seidel of Boston, Mass. wins women’s half marathon in 1:10:27 earning a spot in the upcoming U.S. Olympic Qualifying Trials
San Antonio’s own Ryan Miller wins overall marathon with in 2:20:44; Susie Duke of Grinnell, Iowa wins women’s marathon in 2:47:34
SAN ANTONIO, Texas: (December 8, 2019) - Approximately 18,000 registered runners representing all 50 states and 27 different countries, regions and territories took to the streets of the Alamo City this weekend to participate in the 12th running of the Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & Half-Marathon.

In the half marathon, Tulane University cross country star Emmanuel Rotich (Kenya) won the race with a time of 1:04:30. M. Angel Ramirez (Flagstaff, Ariz.) followed in second with a time of 1:08:45. Ryan Normand (Pflugerville, Texas) was right behind in third place finishing in 1:09:49. Molly Seidel (Boston, Mass.) took top spot in women’s half marathon clocking a time of 1:10:27 and earning a spot in the upcoming U.S. Olympic Qualifying Trials. Elizabeth Northern (Fort Worth, Texas) was next behind at 1:18:19. Erica Kirkwood (San Antonio, Texas) rounded out the podium in 1:21:18.
In the marathon, hometown favorite Ryan Miller (San Antonio, Texas) broke the tape as the overall champion finishing in 2:20:44. John Binzak (Chicago, Ill.) finished in second with a time of 2:27:30 as Jacob Buhler (San Antonio, Texas) rounded out the podium in third finishing in 2:28:30. Susie Duke (Grinnell, Iowa) won the women’s marathon with a final time of 2:47:34. Kristine Burciaga (San Antonio, Texas) took the second-place spot in 2:58:04 and Leticia Acosta-Perez (Monclova, Mexico) finished third in 3:13:04.

The weekend of racing kicked off Saturday with the 5K presented by Brooks & 10K which began at Sunset Station and finished in Travis Park. The races were followed by the Subway Kids Rock Powered by San Antonio Sports in which hundreds of children participated in racing around Travis Park in downtown San Antonio.
In true Rock ‘n’ Roll style, some of San Antonio’s best live bands performed on band stages along the route, interspersed with cheerleaders, themed water stations and local spectators cheering the participants on across the courses. New elements course entertainment where rolled out showcasing some of the San Antonio best musical and cultural heritage. Runners passed bands, hula hoopers, folklorico dancers, mariachis, art pieces and other unique entertainment to San Antonio cheering them on along the course throughout the weekend’s events. The weekend of running concluded with a post-race concert by country music artist and San Antonio’s own, Mike Ryan for runners and spectators to enjoy inside the finish line festival.
