Quebec City, Thursday, June 10, 2021 - Following the Quebec City municipal authority’s decision to withdraw support for fifteen major events, including the Quebec City Marathon, Gestev and Quebec Running Events Corporation announce that this year’s big event slated for October 1–3, 2021 must unfortunately be cancelled.
The organizers would like to jog everyone’s memory that Gestev was committed to delivering a safe and secure event in the strictest compliance with public health measures, especially in light of the recent relaxing of the rules set out in the Government of Quebec’s reopening plan announced on May 18, which gave the green light to sporting activities and competitions effective June 25.
Lévis Half-Marathon - August 28-29, 2021
The good news is that registered entrants will have the option to transfer their registration to the Lévis Half-Marathon, scheduled for the weekend of August 28-29. As well as moving from May to August this year, this event will be held over two days instead of one to comply with public health regulations stipulating how many participants are permitted to be in a given place at one time. This change will make it possible to accommodate a maximum of 5,225 entrants for the 21.1K half-marathon, 10K, 5K and 2K Kids Race distances. Entrants who would prefer to receive a refund will be able to choose this option instead.
This is just another rain check for the Beneva Quebec City Marathon, a healthy invitation from Brunet. The event will be back in October 2022.
