Future Stars of Triathlon Canada

(L-R) Sharon Donnelly and daughter Gemma, Isabelle Turcotte Baird and daughter Madeline

Just before the Christmas break Triathlon Canada's National Office had a special visit from two up and coming Triathletes, Gemma Claire Rudnicki, and Madeline Elizabeth Baird.

Gemma, daughter of Sharon Donnelly and Dave Rudnicki, was born in Kingston, ON on September 16, 2005 in remarkable fashion. The birth of Gemma was 5 years to the day that Sharon raced at the Olympics in Sydney - and almost to the hour – as Sharon’s three hour labour was from 9:30am to 12:22pm and her Olympic race in Sydney was from 10am to 12:14pm.

Madeline, daughter of Isabelle Turcotte Baird and Ian Baird, was born in Toronto, ON on August 15, 2005. Madeline was also born in record time and came 2 weeks early. She was born in just under 5 hours and came so quickly that she was almost delivered in the back of an ambulance.

Both girls and their mom’s are happy and healthy and are no doubt on track to making many more record breaking times!

Triathlon Canada would like to wish Sharon, Gemma, Isabelle and Madeline all the best in 2006.
