Athletics: Sporting Life 10k Gets off to a Flying Start

Canada’s Premier Run for Kids with Cancer launches at Billy Bishop Airport.

February, 2016 - The 2016 Sporting Life 10k run/walk will be held on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8th. This iconic run raises funds to help support Camp Oochigeas (Ooch) a camp for kids with and affected by childhood cancer.

The run has been an annual event since 2003 and has raised over $12.5 million dollars to give kids with cancer what they need - the chance to be a kid. This year, runners and walkers alike will rally around the cause to help raise over $2M.

This year also marks the second year of sponsorship by global athletics brand, New Balance. New Balance Canada will once again provide high quality, technical race shirts to all runners who register for the Sporting Life 10k, and have created an exclusive collection of Sporting Life 10k merchandise that will be sold at Sporting Life Stores, where a portion of sales will be donated to Camp Oochigeas.

The official media launch of the 2016 Sporting Life 10k and unveiling of the Ambassador Team takes place on Friday, February 26, 2016 at the newly wrapped Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (BBTCA) showcasing the impact of the upcoming run. The $250k in free Media was won by MacLaren McCann for Camp Ooch in the BBTCA Creative Competition run by media company BLACK and PortsToronto.
