Age Group Nationals, USA Triathlon's longest-running National Championships event, features the Olympic-Distance National Championships on Saturday and the Sprint National Championships on Sunday. Athletes who have qualified for the Olympic-Distance National Championships, which covers a 1,500-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike, 10-kilometer run course will receive an email invitation with a link to register. Qualification guidelines are available at USATriathlon.org. Sprint Nationals registration is open now at Active.com, and no qualification is necessary to compete in the 750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run event.

First held in 1983, Age Group Nationals has grown nearly 250 percent in the number of registered participants since 2010 and is now consistently one of the top-three largest triathlons in the United States. The event is being brought to Omaha through support from the city's Convention and Visitors Bureau, Mimran Event Management and Race Omaha. The race venue will be three miles from the downtown area, and more information about the host hotel and transportation options to the venue will be available soon.

Omaha is a national sports hub and will host Age Group Nationals for two years. The city has hosted the College World Series annually since 1950, and will host the USA Swimming Olympic Trials for the third time this summer. Omaha has also hosted the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and the 2015 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Grand Prix Final Round.
