10 Years Ago- Kamiel Maase (NED) won the Edmond aan Zee (NED) Half Marathon with Wilson Kigen (KEN) and
and Abiyote Guta (ETH) both only a second back, 1:03:29 to 1:03:30 for the African pair. No
Dutch runner has won this race since. Susan Chepkemei (KEN) won the women's race by five
seconds over Hilda Kibet (KEN), 1:12:16 to 1:12:21. Susanne Hahn (GER) was 3rd at 1:14:21.
20 Years Ago- Robert Kempainen (MN/USA) won the 24th edition of the California (CA/USA) 10 mile by more
than a minute over Brent Griffiths (CA/USA), 48:47 to 49:53. David Scudamore (CA/USA) was
3rd at 49:56. Olympian Mark Conover (CA/USA) was 13th at 50:34. Linda Somers (CA/USA) had
an even larger margin of victory in the women's race, finishing more than four minutes ahead
of runner-up Maria Trujillo (CA/USA), 53:21 to 57:29. Diana Fitzpatrick (CA/USA) was 3rd at
57:43. This race made it to 41 runnings before expiring.
30 Years Ago- Craig Virgin (USA) won the Red Lobster (FL/USA) 15K over John Tuttle (USA), 44:05 to 44:12.
Mark Curp (USA) was 3rd at 44:19 and Mauricio Gonzalez (MEX) was 4th at 44:27. Susan King (USA)
took the measure of super-vet Priscilla Welch (ENG), 51:48 to 52:40. Olympian Julie Isphording
(USA) was 3rd at 53:58.
40 Years Ago- Colin Moxsom (ENG) won the 25th edition of the Mitcham (ENG) 25K in 1:18:32 with Timothy Johnston
(ENG) and Robert Sercombe (WAL) close behind, both timed at 1:18:34. This race made it to 50
runnings before call it quits.
50 Years Ago- John Lawson (USA) defeated Gerry Lindgren (USA) over two miles indoors at the San Francisco
Examiner Meet (CA/USA), 8:40.4 to 8:42.8. Tracy Smith (USA) was 3rd at 8:46.6.
60 Years Ago- Joe McGhee (SCO) won the 14th edition of the Nigel Barge Memorial Road Race (SCO) 4.5M. This
race celebrated it 72nd running in 2014 (2015 results not known as yet).
