10 Years Ago- A trio of Kenyans went sub-2:07 at the Rotterdam (NED) Marathon, led by Sammy Korir at
2:06:37.7. He was followed by Paul Kirui at 2:06:43.6 and Charles Kibiwott at 2:06:51.4.
Mindaye Gishu Tilahun (ETH) won the women's race by more than a minute over Helena Javornik
(SLO), 2:28:29.3 to 2:29:36.9. Isabel Eizmendi Perez (ESP) was 3rd at 2:31:52.9.
20 Years Ago- David Chelule (KEN) won the Scarpa d'Oro (ITA) 8K, 36 seconds ahead of runner-up Gennaro
diNapoli (ITA), 23:01 to 23:37. Paolo Donati (ITA) was 3rd at 23:43.
30 Years Ago- Alberto Cova (ITA) won the Stramilano (ITA) Half Marathon by two seconds over Gelindo Bordin
(ITA), 1:02:04 to 1:02:06. Marco Gozzano (ITA) was 3rd at 1:02:21.
40 Years Ago- Gilbert Bessieres (FRA) outran Jean-Pierre Eudier (FRA) to win the 3rd edition of the
Alençon-Médavy (FRA) 14K, 44:05 to 44:24. Bernard Caraby (FRA) was 3rd at 44:42. Chantal
Langlace (FRA) ran 58 minutes to win the women's race. Langlace ran 3:10:35 at the NN
Rotterdam (NED) Marathon this past weekend, ranking her #8 on the world all-time list for
V60.
50 Years Ago- Hubert Riesner (GER) won the 20th edition of the Paderborner Osterlauf (GER) 25K by two
seconds over Aurele Vandendriessche (BEL), 1:18:52 to 1:18:54. Karl-Heinz Paetow (GER)
was well back in 3rd with a 1:21:08.
60 Years Ago- Eric Losthouse (ENG) won the 14th edition of the Doncaster to Sheffield (ENG) Marathon
with a 2:33:19.4.
