10 Years Ago- Deena Kastor won the Flora London (ENG) Marathon with a still-standing USA record 2:19:36.
Lyudmila Petrova (RUS) was runner-up at 2:21:29 while Susan Chepkemei (KEN) ran 3rd at 2:21:46.
Felix Limo (KEN) won the men's race over Martin Lel (KEN), 2:06:39 to 2:06:41. Hendrick
Ramaala (RSA) was 3rd at 2:06:55 and Khalid Khannouchi (USA) was 4th at 2:07:04 (three
seconds off his own USA record).
20 Years Ago- World-record holder Belayneh Dinsamo (ETH) won the General Bank Rotterdam (NED) Marathon
well off his record with a 2:10:30. Daisuke Tokunaga (JPN) was next at 2:10:56 and Philip
Chirchir (KEN) came in 3rd at 2:11:04. Lieve Slegers (BEL) ran 2:28:06 for the win in the
women's race over Maria del Carmen Diaz (MEX) at 2:29:48. Anne vanSchuppen (NED) was 3rd
at 2:31:26.
30 Years Ago- Colin Youngson (SCO) won the City of Dundee People's Health (SCO) Marathon with a 2:20:03.
Murray McNaught (SCO) came in next at 2:21:08 while Sam Graves (SCO) was 3rd at 2:23:44.
Morag Taggart (SCO) was the first woman at 3:06:40.
40 Years Ago- Giuseppe Cindolo (ITA) won the Italian marathon title with a 2:11:50.6, held in Reggio
Emelia ITA. Francesco Fava (ITA) followed at 2:12:54.0 and Massimo Magnani (ITA) completed
the podium at 2:13:05.0. The course was reported as short.
50 Years Ago- Ken Moore (USA) outran Geoff Pyne (NZL) over two miles at the UCLA vs Oregon meet, 8:44.2
to 8:50.6.
60 Years Ago- Pedro Sierra won the Spanish marathon title in Zaragoza ESP with a 2:37:17.6.
