Triathlon: USA Triathlon Celebrates 100-Day Countdown to the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games

NEW YORK -- April 27 marks 100 days until the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games, and to celebrate the milestone, USA Triathlon is launching a Rio 2016 microsite and joining Team USA in the heart of Times Square for the next stop on the Road to Rio Tour.

U.S. Olympic qualifier Sarah True will join more than 75 athletes at Team USA's 100 Days Out celebration in New York City.

USA Triathlon expects to field a full six-person team for the 2016 Olympic Games, including top-ranked triathletes Gwen Jorgensen and Sarah True. The last qualification event for the U.S. Olympic Triathlon Team will be hosted at ITU World Triathlon Yokohama on May 14, where athletes could earn spots with podium finishes or through the USA Triathlon objective rankings system.

Rio 2016 Coverage

The USA Triathlon Rio 2016 microsite delves into the qualification process, as well as the latest Games coverage, the sport's history in the Olympic Movement, athlete bios and more. USA Triathlon has also released the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games GoldMaps in collaboration with NBC to encourage fans to learn more about the sport and get their start in swim, bike and run when they see it as part of the Games -- all available at USATriathlon.org.

Road to Rio Tour

On April 27, True will join more than 75 Olympic athletes at the fourth stop on the Road to Rio Tour, presented by Liberty Mutual Insurance. The event will stretch from 42nd to 44th streets, bringing the spirit and excitement of the Olympic Games to fans with athlete demonstrations, meet-and-greet autograph sessions, fan sport experiences, interactive elements, Team USA giveaways, live musical performances and more. All of the Road to Rio Tour stops are free and open to the public. Find the full event schedule at TeamUSA.org.
