Athletics: Registration for 2016 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon 85% Full

Organizers Expect 11,600 Runner Field to Fill Before Race Day

St. Paul, Minn.: July 14, 2016 - Registration for the 2016 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon is hitting the homestretch with 85% of the 11,600 runner field already registered for the 35th anniversary event scheduled for October 9.

"If there are runners still deciding about whether to run, now is the time to register," Twin Cities In Motion Executive Director Virginia Brophy Achman said. "There’s time to get in the race, train well for it, and enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done in October."

The Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon runs from downtown Minneapolis to the State Capitol grounds in St. Paul along the Mississippi River, lakes and parkways that make the race The Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America®. Further information and registration details can be found at TCMEvents.org.

Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend kicks off on Friday, October 7 with the Health & Fitness Expo at Saint Paul RiverCentre. The expo, which runs through Saturday, October 8, features more than 100 exhibitors, a full schedule of presentations and packet pick up for the weekend’s races.

30,000 people are expected to participate in running events held Saturday, October 8 and Sunday, October 9. Saturday Events at the Capitol grounds in St. Paul include the TC 10K and TC 5K, presented by Fredrikson & Byron, and the Medtronic TC Family Events.

The Medtronic TC 10 Mile, known as the Shortcut to the Capitol®, starts in downtown Minneapolis and kicks off the Sunday races at 7:00 a.m. The Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon follows at 7:55 a.m. This marks the signature race’s 35th year serving as the Twin Cities’ premier marathon.

Note: Friday, July 15 is the final day for Medtronic TC 10 Mile runners to enter the registration drawing for the 10,800 entries into the event.
