MCM10K presented by Aetna to have entirely new course and start time on October 30
QUANTICO, VA (Sept. 1, 2016) - The MCM10K presented by Aetna has sold out of all available entries for the 2016 event to be held on Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) Sunday, Oct. 30.
It was just yesterday that the MCM announced substantial changes would be made to this year’s event, including the MCM10K, which has been moved completely to Arlington, VA. For a number of years, the MCM10K started in the nation’s capital and at a time simultaneous to the MCM. As the result of Metro’s SafeTrack program, the MCM10K will have a new start time of 9:15 a.m., with the course both starting and finishing in Arlington.
The MCM10K is the 6.2 mile run that began in 2006 as part of MCM Weekend. Runners will begin the MCM10K on Boundary Channel Drive in the Pentagon’s North parking lot and for the first four miles cover the same course as the Marathon. Just prior to the Francis Scott Key Bridge, the MCM10K course will move in a separate direction with runners completing the final miles of the course in Rosslyn, VA to the finish on the United States Marine Corps War Memorial.
In October, MCM10K runners will enjoy all of the excitement of MCM Weekend, including the Health & Fitness Expo hosted at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, the new MCM headquarters hotel. The Expo will be held on Oct. 28 and 29 for MCM10K runners to pick up event-day packets, meet with industry experts and attend the many events hosted for MCM and MCM10K participants.
MCM Weekend will be held from Friday, Oct. 28 through Marathon Day, Sunday, Oct. 30.
